Description
Melbourne is Australia’s second largest city and
shows a unique combination of elegant urban areas and
imposing architecture, lovely riverside neighbourhoods,
excellent sports and leisure centres. It has a magnificent
public transport network and besides, is a safe, cosmopolitan
city with a strong academic background.
The mountains, the coastal towns, the forests and the
unexplored territories of the Victorian state are easily
accessible. The Embassy CES Centre is excellently located
with modern facilities. Situated within Taylors College,
the Study Group’s school for university preparation,
it is close to other universities, shops, movie theatres
and restaurants and also has access to Taylors College
facilities, such as the medical centre and musical and
graphic arts facilities.
Accommodation
Carefully selected families offering a single room are
available. Shared bedrooms are also offered on availability.
Another possibility is residential accommodation in
single or shared rooms, close to town. In Melbourne
there is also a wide selection of hotel accommodation.
Academics
Various types of courses are offered, adaptable to the
each student’s particular circumstance. The standard
course is a half day course covering all main skills
and language areas, focusing on fluency and effective
communication. The intensive courses, full day courses,
offer the chance for rapid progress. Afternoon modules
allow further General English lessons or lessons in
business, IT and academic preparation. The College Year
Programme, a long term course, (20,30 or 40 weeks) provides
a motivating and interesting route to increasing fluency
in English, in addition to offering intensive afternoon
modules, focusing on results. These courses offer specialized
preparation for many of the most important English exams,
including the University of Cambridge examinations,
TOEFL y IELTS.
Activities
The Centre has a staff member responsible for organizing
a variety of activities and excursions. New activities
in the social program are regularly announced on the
notice board.
